Which leads to a larger question: how many potentially effective policy options are outside the Overton window for discussion and study not for their inherent flaws, unethical nature, what have you, but because the class of people "Not Us" would be pleased by the policy being implemented?
Case in point: if a solution to climate change is not anti-market, anti-free exchange, then environmentalists would rather have the world burn. Better that hundreds of millions in the Third World suffer than some capitalists become trillionaires.
