Segment Anything Meets Point Tracking
The Segment Anything Model (SAM) has established itself as a powerful zero-shot image segmentation model, employing interactive prompts such as points to generate masks. This paper presents SAM-PT, a method extending SAM's capability to tracking and segmenting anything in dynamic videos.

It is not true that "There is basically no dispute among scholars, of any theoretical orientation, that ethnic diversity causes conflict." In fact, the co-author of the linked piece, Barbara Walter, wrote in her 2022 book, How Civil Wars Start, that ethnic diversity per se is not predictive of civil war. Rather, it is ethnic factionalization that is the apparent culprit:
"it appeared as if ethnic diversity within a country was a key factor inthe outbreak of war. Yugoslavia was a prime example. But the dawn of datasets cast doubt on this theory. While civil wars were increasinglybeing fought by ethnic factions, researchers such as Paul Collier and Anke Hoefflerat Oxford, and Fearon and Laitin at Stanford, found that ethnically diverse countrieswere not necessarily more prone to war than ethnically homogeneous ones. This wasa puzzling finding: If diversity didn’t matter, then why did so many civil wars break down alongethnic or religious lines? . . . One particular feature of countries turned out to be strongly related topolitical instability and violence. It was an acute form of political polarization that they called “factionalism.” Countries that factionalize have political parties based on ethnic, religious, or racial identity rather than ideology, and these partiesthen seek to rule at the exclusion and expense of others."
Note that this is a compelling argument against multiple party systems in diverse countries and in favor of a two-party system, since a multiple party system means that some parties will likely form on ethnic lines.
