ChatGPT: Bad at Arithmetic, Promising at Math? — “This also means that we could imagine that an artificial mathematician, trained to mimic this abstracted language layer far above the level of ZFCtext, might very well be able to produce convincing arguments and say largely true things without having any idea how to unpack what it's saying beyond a certain point.” https://www.lesswrong.com/posts/qy5dF7bQcFjSKaW58/bad-at-arithmetic-promising-at-math

Thank you for link #3. It was extremely thought-provoking.
One of my favorite things about increasing AI capabilities is that the more we learn about machine intellegence, the better we understand human intellegence.
I always wondered whether or not the verbal vs math split in psychometrics was "real". By real, I mean: is MV split specific to humans or is it more so a property of intellegence in general.
Seeing ChatGPT perform breathtaking feats of verbal intellegence while *still* struggling with arithmetic as updated me slightly towards the latter.
