While the German media is celebrating Boris Johnson's political demise, it is worth remembering what an absolute disgrace German politicians are.
There are various examples of deeply corrupt German politicians like Gerhard Schröder, who used his chancellorship to secure a career with Russian state-owned companies. But the worst of all has been Angela Merkel. Sixteen years of Merkel have permanently and fundamentally damaged Germany. And similar to Schröder, she knew exactly what she was doing:
1. As a physicist she knew very well that the nuclear phase-out was a grave mistake. In 2008, she even called such a move ridiculous. But instead of using her position to publicly call out the disinformation spread by environmentalists and the mainstream media, instead of explaining the importance of nuclear power in the fight against climate change, she decided to bolster her poll ratings by satisfying populist sentiments.
2. She knew that the refugee crisis could have easily been prevented simply by lowering the social benefits for refugees in Germany. It was blatantly obvious that people who were crossing several safe countries were not looking for refuge but economic benefits. Again, she decided to follow the narrative outlined for her by the lying press and leave the flood gates wide open.
3. Despite being warned for years that Germany is becoming totally dependent on Russian energy and despite what happened in 2014, Merkel decided to go ahead with Nord Stream 2. By focusing on becoming even more dependent on Russia she financed its war of aggression to this day.
P.S. To name just one example of many, a few days ago it was revealed how an Iranian who was promoted by the current government to serve at the Federal Office for the Protection of the Constitution illegally traveled to Iran. Such scandals generally have no political consequences in Germany.
